Update on standards
A2S products meet and exceed the requirements of many global standards, including UL, cUL, IECEx, ATEX, FM, VdS, DNV, INMETRO, CU TR and MED certifications.
ATEX regulations
The ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosives) regulation applies in France and in all countries of the European Union. It comes from two European directives on equipment and on worker safety. It sets "essential requirements" for manufacturers of electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres and imposes strict product marking.
To comply with this regulation, suppliers of products intended to be installed in hazardous areas must issue a declaration of conformity for each order.
The international system
IECEx is an international system that certifies the conformity of equipment used in explosive atmospheres. It follows standards issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission and provides manufacturers with a certification of conformity. This is based on evaluation tests and monitoring of the manufacturer's quality assurance. This system has been adopted or is being adopted by countries around the world.
There are other standards: the American and Canadian standards UL and CSA, the EurAsian Conformity Mark, used in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia, INMETRO, in force in Brazil, and PCEC for China.
